Ron Paul Endorses Steve Lonegan for NJ Governor
LAKE JACKSON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Congressman Ron Paul has endorsed Steve Lonegan in the New Jersey Gubernatorial Primary. The endorsement was announced today in a statewide email to Dr. Paul’s thousands of fans and supporters in the Garden State.
Said Dr. Paul, “I was very impressed by Steve Lonegan’s record of budget restraint as Mayor of Bogota, NJ. Steve has been a vocal critic of runaway spending and taxpayer funded bailouts, and he understands that we must reject the nanny state and return government to its proper, restrained role.
“Sending Steve Lonegan to Trenton would be a tremendous victory for the people of New Jersey.”

Apologies for digging up an old thread
But I'm deeply conflicted about tomorrow's primaries.
NJ Republicans- are you all planning on voting for Lonegan?
I'm torn about whether to vote for him. He seems decent on some economic/budget/tax issues, but as far as individual freedoms go, like being able to marry someone of the same sex, he's not up to par.
I probably will wind up voting for him, because Christie is even worse, but part of me feels like just staying home and voting for the libertarian candidate in the general elections.
Thanks for finding this thread.
Lonegan is the best candidate to help us reclaim our state by following the Constitution, imho.
Vote Lonegan
I don't live in NJ but i would say even if he is not "up to par" with social issues I would vote for him anyway. It sounds to me that overall Lonegan is way better than anyone else in the race. And he has Ron Paul's endorsement!
Oh and didn't NJ already legalize same sex marriage or civil unions?
I've driven quite a bit
I've driven quite a bit around South Jersey and have not yet seen a single lawn sign for other candidates. It seems that southern NJ has a great deal of support for Lonegan as lawn signs for him are literally everywhere.
Funny you should say that...
As I've driven around (Essex/Hudson) you would barely know that Lonegan was a candidate.
Outside this area(Hunterdon/Sussex) the complete opposite is true.
It seems the cities and affluent suburbs are happy with the GOP "Lie Train" that keeps hooking a different engine to the same set of cars.
The more rural folk all seem to follow along the 'grassroots' nature of the campaign.
I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...
Consider
We will vote for a Lt. Governor and members of the General Assembly as well.
If there are any RP supporters left in NJ!
We really need to rally behind Lonegan!
There may actually be a chance of him edging out Christie in the race for governor. I feel we are closer than we're ever been before to some sort of turning point in NJ. If we can get someone like Lonegan in office, it would start the rest of the corrupt NJ politicians back-pedalling in fear!
So, get yourself a lawnsign, get out and vote in the primary and get the tyrants out of politics!
I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...
Nope. None left. Please close the door behind you...
when you move to a state with a possibility. New Jersey is a lost cause.
Great attitude!
Let me know how that 'starting a new state' plan works, ok?
To paraphrase Geo. Patton, "....You win by making the other poor, dumb bastard go look for another state".
I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...
Easy, brother....
I'm just stroking your muffin.....
Lonegan
is up against the same GOP machine methods that marginalized Ron Paul.
But, he has a grass roots movement that is literally shaking the state, but is up against his opponent's corporate money.
If you can donate to help, please go to lonegan.com and help with whatever you can.
Lonegan's Primary opponent
Chris Christie, was just named as a defendant in a Federal Tort lawsuit.

Seems he used his office for a little political payback.
The GOP machine anointed candidate comes with baggage.
too familiar.
Ron Paul knows what he is doing. Lonegan has impeccable ethics.
If it was just based on lawn
If it was just based on lawn signs, I wouldn't even know Chris Christie's name. I live in South Jersey and have driven quite a bit over the past few days. I have seen not a single lawn sign for Chris Christie. I'm not exaggerating with that. Not a single sign. This is probably in approx 100 miles of driving while running some errands and attending a family event over the past few days.
So, while there was not a single Chris Christie sign (that I noticed) during all that driving, I must have seen 50+ signs for Lonegan during the same time.
Just wanted to quickly post that info. Make of it what you will...
This seals my choice, fooled no more.
The Republican machine is in full force supporting Christie, trashing Lonegan, and Ron Paul is supporting Lonegan.
C'mon NJ. This one's a no-brainer
NJ Star ledger
The Star ledger has an editorial from a pro-liberty writer, and buried in it is a link to this thread!!!

Check out the endorsement link after the first paragraph.
This writer is doing his part for liberty! He could have used the Business Wire, or CFL links, but he used DP. Brilliant. Steer people here, to READ.
There are journalists and writers out there that want no part of a CFR propaganda machine!
G. Edward Griffins Unfiltered New has DP links too

Will just have to put on some thick sunglasses when he starts making a big deal about cracking down on illegal immigrants in every way possible... but ya can't get everything you want and he's definitley the best option
Cracking down on so-called "illegal" immigrants
in NJ? Canadians probably.

There is a large influx of Mexicans coming into NJ. Now, whether they are legal or not is anyone's guess, because it is illegal to ask them.

Whens the election date for this?
Wow! I think we need a list
Wow! I think we need a list of all 2010, liberty loving candidates. Maybe listed by state. This is great news.
Saw that this morning!
Just the message I was waiting for!
I thought we were forgotten....written off here in the People's Republik of New Jersey, but the good doctor has been watching!
From what I see, Lonegan is light years ahead of his rival, Chris Christie.
There may be hope for this state yet...
I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...
That's who I will be
That's who I will be supporting.

NJ's only chance.
Lonegan is a champion of Austrian Economics, and a sworn enemy of socialist big government policy.
He has spent years as a private citizen in NJ Superior court fighting big government.
If would do NJ proud to have him as Governor.
Lonegan runs ads like crazy
Lonegan runs ads like crazy on NY radio. Now Cristy's trying to catch up!
Lonegan has the courage to end the Progressive tax in NJ
Ron Paul sees in Steve Lonegan a man who is committed to fairness.
Steve Lonegan is committed to having a low FLAT tax of 2.9% down from a high
of 9% and lowering it even more each and every year.
Go to: www.lonegan.com to learn more.
Sounds like Huckabee...
but, I trust in Ron's endorsement.
Huckabee believes in the "fair tax'
not the "flat tax". Forbes, Armey etc. believe in the flat tax as well. They do want to end the IRS, which is good. From Dr. Paul's perspective, the flat tax may be better than the "fair tax". Jim Bovard wrote a book rejecting the "fair tax". One could have a sort of a value added tax, a lower tax for basic food like food, milk etc. and a bit higher for other goods, like luxury goods.
Flat tax is a scam
What politicians tend to do is implement it, then jack incrementally jack it up over the years.
New Jersey
Time to get busy! This will set an example to all politicians across the country. A Ron Paul endorsement equates into relentless support. This is a win- win for all if we can help him get the election. Lets not blow it patriots!
E Pluribus Unum
Lonegan is Champion of the Constitution...
Dr. Paul endorsements do not come easy, ask Bob Bird of Alaska. I saw Lonegan speak at a recent Tea Party in Philly. If he is true to his word, then he too is a champion of the Constitution. I urge all of our friends in Jersey to support this man.

Thx for that
Maybe both these candidates suck.
I'm sure Ron Paul has good reason.
Why didn't Ron Paul back "libertarian" Bob Barr?
Ron Paul's Convention Speech
Bob ("I voted for the 'Patriot Act'...
...so I could work against it") Barr? That 'libertarian'?
I'll leave the answer to your question as an exercise for the advanced student.
You Had To Remind Me.
I remember when some on here tried to sell that line with a straight face.
Yeesh.

Weird
Murray Sabrin didn't endrose Lonegan. Sabrin endorsed Chris Christie because he thinks that Lonegan's tax plan blows.
I wonder if Ron did his due diligence on this? It sounds like Sabrin has.
Sabrin?
voted for Sabrin on the libertarian ticket against Whitman. He's ok but he accrued a lot of campaign debt in Senate primary. Also got a little bit out there betting campaign on a horse...and now endorsing Christie???
I take Dr. Paul endorsements under advisement but my vote is my own and on June 2nd it is going to Steve Lonegan unless I am convinced otherwise. I am happy Dr. Paul has endorsed Steve Lonegan, but I would hav voted for Lonegan anyway.
So much good news today!
