The proposals are intended to help close a budget deficit estimated at $21.3 billion.
Carrots and Sticks. It's how bullies always work... how big government has always maintained pwr. This is meant to punish voters... nothing else.... pure politics. Create/amplify the need/panic........ offer the "solutions".

Here is my two cents.
Arnold is a tool so he is doing what he is told. If he is doing what he is told it makes me think that what we are witnessing is the dismantling of the government of California and it will now be nationalize by the Federal government like the banks, car companies etc. After the state governments are dissolved and under Federal control it will be easier to turn over the bankrupt country to the UN.

Arnold Makes the GOP Look Like Pure EVIL
Cutting welfare for families is not the kind of social programs Ron paul would cut. It makes no sense to cut out what little people can get from the government in form of help sustain health and lessen their need to commit crimes to simply survive.
Arnold is also talking about closing 200 state parks, cutting funds for home services for the invaluds and cutting education, not the deptment, which as a state, means Arnold is putting education in the hands of federal funding. Arnold cut state employees pay 10% just last year and he is threatening to cut them another 5%. This is not smaller government, but slave control, as many of these jobs are in areas that the state has no other industry, through environmental laws, Arnold won't side with conservatives.. he's backing the Global warming crowd with out money.
Many citizens of CA believe legalizing cannabis would correct the budget. But Arnold would prefer to start a border war under Obama's administration against marijuana.
He is also talking about transfering prisoners to save money, putting more in federal prisons.
Meanwhile, Arnold is not cutting the funding for experimental programs that have cost Californians, tens of billions, the Sun Laser, Stem Cell Research Center are only two.
Arnold is throwing our money away of bogus elections. If we don't do what Arnold wants he threatens us.
That's exactly what Ron would like to do

People on welfare are idle, and idle hands cause mischief. I bet a working population would commit far less crime.
But that aside, Ron would cut those programs. Phase out is probably a more accurate way to phrase it, but these programs are nothing but trouble. They hurt people by making them dependent, they don't help them.

That is awesome that he's cutting back or eliminating these welfare programs. Ron Paul couldn't have done it better.
I agree; I thought the whole point was to cut spending.
Taking away giveaway programs financed by taxpaying citizens is not 'bullying', in my book.

Ron Paul
Is compassionate and would understand this needs to be done slowly enough, because it's inhumane to make a population dependent on government funds and then pull the rug right out from under them. He would also propose and implement viable alternatives, and I see nothing in this piece that suggests Arnold is doing any such thing.

You are probably right that Ron would have some sort of phasing out solution. I'm not sure if Schwartzenegger has a phasing out program of his own, but he probably does.

Ron Paul doesn't believe in government programs. He believes people acting voluntarily for their own benefit is far superior to anything the government would do. I don't think he would propose any government alternatives.
