Huff Post: Ron Paul: The World's Most Popular U.S. Congressman

!! Digg It !!

by Ryan Grim, ryan@huffingtonpost.com

Months after his long-shot bid for the Republican presidential nomination ended, Rep. Ron Paul has become a hot ticket on the international stage. Unlikely as it may seem, Paul, a Texas Republican, is the most popular member of Congress outside the United State, if foreign television appearances are any indication.

Paul expected his international influence to diminish after the quixotic presidential campaign. In fact, it's gone the other way.

Fair enough.....

It was fair enough....

I think Ron Paul should stay out of the presidential elections though.......keep the war going in Congress & the state level where it can really make a difference.

We have to be done with the Fed......

That was a very fair piece

I enjoyed it quite a bit, thank you!

Great way to start the morning

Follow me on Twitter for breaking news on Ron Paul and the U.S. Economy:

Not a surprise. He's always been popular with us....

But, I'm surprised that Huffington would recognize him....

Read the comments

They may be recognizing him, just like they did often in the past, but plenty of HuffPo readers still don't like him.

Thank God..

Im not a liberal. It must be painful to live in a mindset that the government is great. I say it only because of how often they must be disappointed.

The comment section just got me fired up. Screw em. I cant wait to smile as they eat crow once Barry falls flat on his face.

Below is my correspondence

Below is my correspondence with DIGG regarding the 'bury' of this article.

I'm sure that you know there are certain trolls known as 'bury brigade'? They target particular topics for no other reason than a name. This was a great article which gained more than 200 diggs in just the first couple of hours as the subject has a large following. No wonder other networking sites have pretty much buried DIGG.

I'm sorry, but this explanation is not acceptable. I haven't used DIGG much in recent months just for reasons like this. Your process for burying a story is arbitrary and obviously has little to do with the actual choices of the people supporting or opposing it. Many DIGG users feel the 'powers that be' bury what they want for their own agendas. I've mostly ignored those comments but now believe they are likely correct. Again, there was nothing about this article or it's fans deserving of a bury. If there was an obvious button for 'delete membership', I'd use it immediately.

Thank you. Meanwhile, it's your loss. After 20 hrs. the article I posted has 428 DIGGS and 105 comments even after you buried it at about the 4 hr. mark. That doesn't seem like good business to me. DIGG was fun in the beginning but now obvious that it's truly become a waste of time. This is my last comment.
*******

I feel SOOOOO much better now!

What a horrible business model

Digg appears to be staffed by tremendous douche bags. Are they run by the freaking CIA or DHS or something?

They have to randomly censor stories then point to an unintelligible "Digg algorithm" that magically buries or boosts certain stories? What a joke!

I am on digg a lot because I like the tool, but the operators of that site really have some issues they need to work through if they care to be righteous folk.

I can't dance

To an Al-gore-rhythm,
e-g-b-d-c-f-r just doesn't cut it.

I've been considering doing this.

But every time I go to do it, there's something worth digging. I guess I also figure that if the enemies of freedom can get me to close my account, then that's a victory for them not us - one less person helping to spread the word on that site. If the site wasn't relevant I would close my account immediately.

So instead, I've just learned to frequently take breaks from that democratic trash bin, when needed, and only return when it's something important.

Variety really is the spice of life.

Yahoo! Buzz?

Doesn't "bury" stories, there are some others too there on the HuffPo page.
Don't rely on Digg only, use the others too.

Digg creeps are working hard on keeping this one down!

Ron Paul's Convention Speech

And all this without a single push by

Rush Limpbaugh, Shimp Hannity and the rest of the Fox "true conservatives". Just imagine if this team of talking heads would have poured their support on for Ron Paul in the election. I think we would have seen a much different outcome, but they, like the ones they like to bemoan, are somewhat controlled too. Ron Paul is just too hot of a potato for them to buddy up to. They had to stick to their real leader, John McCain. Too bad. Actually, I believe they wanted Obama so they could keep their gripe going on air with the Democrats. It's all about ratings and selling commercials. It's business, you know.

I'm happy to see Rachel's name

She's the best RP junkie I know. Shine Rachel Shine shine shine!!!! I love you, not as much as RP, but you're my sister in spirit!!!

He's become a springboard

After Obama's budget went through the roof - people started looking for answers. This movement for Ron Paul has only just begun.

Return our Republic to its roots.

From France

Not enough popular in france !!! :'(
But certainly the most popular congressman for the few interested about what is going on in your country or interested about liberty and freemarket :)

And I start to see some french guys making french subtitles of videos of him on dailymotion ! Or even french libertarians talking about him. That is great, a year ago I thought I was all alone :')

We sure need to hear a voice like him in our socialist country...

GOP must have left a bad taste in the mouth?

Freedom fries didn't stick and french wine continues to be popular when one can find it. What Bush said and did to France was so benign.. the fact RP remains in the GOP has got to be a turn off... it is here, but MSM desperately needs to keep the idea there are two seperate parties in play and RP is very good at making people think, there's a difference between parties, or that a guy like RP has a chance in hell, like Nader...who you no longer see on MSM because Obama is taking Naders ideas and corrupting them beyond recognition with a new consumer protection department, and Nader has no way to say anything about it in MSM..he's blackballed. RP talks about dreams, and France is beyond that, eh? I don't see France as having a socialist problem. I see France (from outside France) having an indenity problem, for being FRANCE, gave them identiy, being part of a EU, fades them to france or PeleoMidEast.

Ron Paul Is Only One Man

Why does not the Campaign promote others who have similar qualifications as Ron Paul, although not elected? I have volunteered my services for interviews and haven't received any response from anybody. There were more than one man who were instrumental in promoting the Revolution against the British. Washington, Henry, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, John Adams, Sam Adams, Franklin, Mason, Hancock, etc.

We need more than RP, Peter Schiff, and Napolitano.

Ron Paul Hates America

This will be the headline on FOXNews if this story gets big. (It won't.)

If Ron Paul was speaking only about Obama's keynesian policies it would be fine. But when he starts talking about corporate cronyism, foreign policy, monetary policy, etc., Republicans will pull out the "patriot" card.

It will go something like this: Ron Paul gets invited to comment on foreign television because he rails against America. He's being duped by these interviewers so he'll attack American policies in the foreign press. He's hurting the country.

I'll bet you a trillion federal reserve notes.

Yeah, and no one will

Yeah, and no one will believe it. If Ron Paul were to be called out in such an unfair way, and it became so widely talked about that I started hearing it parroted by uninformed individuals who spend less than an hour a day paying attention to current events, I'd just use it as an opportunity to promote Ron Paul's message.

It is those uninformed people, who spend almost no effort to be informed about anything, who ultimately give the crooked Keynesian establishment their authority.

Whenever there's a TV on someplace that's tuned into business news, and Peter Schiff comes on, I make sure to talk about him and how right he has been and how if anyone wants to know what's really going on they should pay attention.

I make sure I let small business owners know exactly how they're getting screwed by unfair monetary policy. And you know what, people are starting to listen to me. I'm starting to notice friends in my old social circles talking about what inflation is and where it really comes from.

I can't think of a single person who has done more to inform the people of the truth than Ron Paul. It's no wonder the whole world openly invites him. No matter where you live you either have the US government screwing you directly or you have your own government colluding with the US government to screw others while screwing you at the same time!

99% of the people on this earth are sick and tired of being lied to and ripped off and we are determined to make it stop.

Good Analysis CC

You're right this is highly unlikely to happen. They don't want the debate, a debate that's dangerous from their point of view.
They'd much rather marginalize Ron Paul with ridicule, like someone dropping his trousers in front of him.
Years ago Billy Graham always had others check a hotel room before he entered. He was concerned about being confronted by a naked woman and a photographer. These people play dirty.
Those who oppose RP don't want to debate the issues. JMO

There they go...

with the "q-word" again. It irks me.

My sister-in-law (Japanese bar owner) took one of my Ron Paul T-shirts when I visited last year in April, and wears it to work sometimes, and around the machi (town) in north Tokyo. I didn't really want to give it up but she insisted.

Boehner:

Get a freaking clue, man. This is your WAKE UP CALL.

As we all knew....

As if on queue, I just saw that trailer forthe new 'Borat' movie; 'Bruno' with none other than - your guessed it - Ron Paul.

How will he parlay this into a huge following is to be seen but I will make the bet he will garner millions to the cause with this simple, light-hearted cameo appearance.

Like they say in Hollywood... this could be the start of something BIG!

I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...

Warning: Non Ron Paul Subject Matter Ahead

vbullinger from digg has shared this wonderful gem with us:
http://www.youtube.com/wa...

This is an instant classic, and one of the funniest YouTube videos I have ever watched.

vbullinger said, “NoLiberties' reaction whenever there's a pro-Ron Paul piece that's getting hundreds of digs…”

lol @ NoLibertarians, he really sucks.

DIGG is definitely burying this story.

Good luck finding it doing a search... Pathetic

~I like Ron Paul because he doesn't lie~

Digg demotes voters when

Digg demotes voters when they vote for the same thing all the time. If you goto digg only for Ron Paul stories your vote counts for almost nothing.

You need to digg a variety of things to increase the chances of getting on the fp. And other people who hardly ever digg Ron Paul stuff need to digg it.

This system is not a conspiracy against Ron Paul. It's a conspiracy to prevent digg from being completely overrun by Apple related news!

251 diggs in 4+ hours and it's nowhere to be found...

ron paul rocks!!! of course you all know that...

Ron Paul wants D.C. to keep its nose

out of the internal affairs of other countries. Who knew that people around the world support that kind of thing? Ron Paul doesn't want to invade, kill, starve, or rule. Hope that sort of thing catches on.

Yes, he has indeed been saying the same things for 30 years, but without millions of supporters here at home, we have helped him in a small (or maybe large) way.
