Daily HR 1207 phone/email/fax bomb!!! 6/24/09

Is anyone calling? I just called all three of Olvers offices and it seemed like they weren't getting any calls. (maybe it's a ploy of theirs) They did want to know where I was from and when I told them I was from Arizona I had to tell them that this is not a Republican or Democrat battle, this is the battle for the survival of our nations very existence. They seemed to like that. I also reminded them how many Dems signed on. Anyway, almost done with my activism for the day. Keep up all the great work people. We need to grow our numbers.

Although I am in another state, I hope my same (and very uncommon) last name garners a few points with him. Already on his e-mail list too which I had to mention as well as our 164,000+ member group.

By the way, we only have 8 of our 25 Reps in Florida remaining and are in line for a special visit from the good doctor. Any chance you can put one or two of them on your list soon please? No, I am not sure which might be good ones but I will check with my very friendly contact at Rep. Alan Grayson's office to see which need a nudge. Yes, I believe they are all Dems.

So, I actually emailed Lewis yesterday about this, as I went on an email spree to the republican list of shame, and I got this response. Do you think he will cosponsor??? Not sure what to think here.

Thank you for your letter regarding the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009, H.R. 1207. It is good to hear from you and I am pleased to respond.
The Federal Reserve System was created by Congress in 1913 to serve as the American central banks directing monetary policy and regulating national banks. Though the Fed acts as an independent agency, the Board of Governors, the Fed’s governing body, is appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate. Congress oversees the Fed through mandated reports and semi-annual monetary policy hearings. The Federal Banking Agency Audit Act of 1978 expanded congressional oversight powers by giving the Government Accountability Office (GAO) auditing power over the Board of Governors, the Reserve Banks and branches.
The Fed Transparency Act would mandate that the Treasury Department complete an audit of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors by the end of 2010 and make a detailed report to Congress immediately following the audit. The bill was referred to the House of Representatives Committee on Financial Services. The Committee has scheduled a hearing to address H.R. 1207 and other Fed transparency issues in late June 2009.

If anyone has heard remarks like these from their congressmen and staff who haven't yet signed on, tell me who they are and Ill gather the information and post it.
