Rudy Giuliani's role in paving the NAFTA Superhighway
Of course, Ron Paul was the only candidate asked anything about the NAFTA Superhighway (AKA The Texas Trans-National Corridor). Sadly, the candidate on the stage who is profiting the most from this project wasn't asked a single question about it. That's probably because few people know that Rudy Giuliani is practically financing his campaign on it.
Any time you see a reporter erroneously taking Paul to task for his comments on the very real prospect of the NAFTA Superhighway, kindly point them to Manufacturing News & Technology and ask them if the $70 million dollars Giuliani received on the legal work preparing to sell public roads to foreign companies is imaginary.
Another thing you can do is send them to the website of the documentary Truth Be Tolled, to witness the passion of those fighting this thing on the front lines.
Write them and send them to these places when they attack. Ask them if they have done their homework. But why wait for them to attack? We should be peacefully preemptive. Write your local editors; Write your favorite Internet reporter; Ask them if they were aware of the referenced links. Ask them if now is not the time to have a debate about this, when will be the right time?
We need to be providing ground cover to Dr. Paul on this issue. It's the least that we can do for him as he stands up there heroically speaking truth to power.

Trans-Texas Corridor
I think that we should focus on the Texas portion which is called the Trans-Texas Corridor. Texans have been fighting this highway for 2 years.

The section of the NAFTA Superhighway is called the Trans-Texas Corridor. There is a truck load of information on the Trans-Texas Corridor. The people in Texas are very angry, because they want this stopped and the Governor vetoed bills that were passed to delay the project.

You can also mention that the NH Guliani campaign has joined Mcain and Al Gore on the global warming front. They are promising the residents of Northern NH FEDERAL funding to study alternate fuel sources.

Our illustrious, tax loving, money hungry Governor of Indiana, Mitch Daniels, has already sold out! He shoved the selling of the Indiana Toll Road down our throats! Interstate I80 has already been sold to foreign investors. IT NO LONGER BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE.
The end portion of the I69 corridor is already built! It runs from Indianapolis to Port Huron, MI. This is real and any politician that says thet don't know about it or that it's not true, I either lieing or not doing there homework.

Pastor was on the Mancow show some weeks ago saying there was no plan for an expressway from mexico to canada, etc and so forth. Right on nationally syndicated radio. I don't listen to mancow every day so I dunno if mancow did anything after I sent him websites of the various orgs listing Pastor as a director,etc.
They just outright lie about it on national TV knowing that much of the public is too lazy to go look it up.
Given that these lies are so obviously transparent to anyone who can do a google search, what else the government and status quo media been lying to us about and using ridicule to hide it? Where do the lies stop?

Paul weak on NAFTA highway
The "NAFTA superhighway" and 9/11 conspiracies are bad for Ron and he should not entertain these goofy things. He is so tolerant of the quirks of his supporters and is just not willing to distance himself from the nuttier of us. I both appreciate this and recognize that it hurts him with the non-paranoid majority of voters.

Markets versus government services
Paying tolls is no different than paying for any other good or service and, yes, I am pleased to pay it to a private company rather than a government. Fortunately, technology is making toll-paying much more convenient and privately funded roads more realistic.
With the reduction of trade barriers with Mexico and the growth of the economies north and south of the border, trade has skyrocketed and I understand that a new highway is needed to accommodate it. Inviting in private financing is an excellent idea.
I hope that this global move toward private financing and provision and away from government financing and provision continues to progress -- and extends to education, mail delivery, Social Security and other government monopolies!

Private-public partnerships are not free market.
These so called private-public partnerships are private profits and public costs. Basically they are handouts to connected companies.
If you read the typical agreements (including those being done in TX) the company that operates the toll road can tell the government to start shutting down lanes on parallel routes to cause traffic congestion to encourage people to use the toll road. The government cannot also have another parallel road built, even another toll road operated by a different company as I recall.
If you don't believe me, check thenewspaper.com There was a story out of New Zealand the other day with the same nonsense for a toll tunnel. The Texas info will turn up easy with a google search.
Anyway what it is is government mandated monopoly. I don't have a problem with the concept of privately operated roads so long as free market competition exists. No competition, well then, it's a nightmare. Of course companies won't get into the road business if they have to compete with another company operating a parallel route. They want monopoly. They want to restrict other routes to maximize their profit.
Of course this nonsense is based on the idea that gasoline taxes can't pay for the roads... Actually Texas DOT is sitting on a pile of money in the billions and so much of the gasoline taxes nation wide are diverted to other things that all we'd have to do is use them for roads as initially intended.
We've been ripped off with a typical bait and switch.
The problem is...
We have already paid for the roads, so why pay Spain a toll? Tax monies (theoretically) paid for the roads and the infractructure. When things go bad and the road collapses, who will be responsible for doing repairs the right way? It is a matter similar to "taxation without representation" in terms of accountability. It is too slippery of a slope. First, it is roads, then they claim the right to use their own drivers, then they will be setting their own laws, then you will need "permission" to drive on roads (like a toll, plus), etc....
I don't think it is a matter of private financing, there is plenty of that already. And, I agree with privatizing some government programs. But it is a move towards the NAU and I love the Constitution and American tradition too much.

He was likely waiting to be hit with this. When someone asked him about it, he claimed he did not know. When I brought it up at a meeting I was viciously attacked by a Giuliani supporter who said the same. I said, how in heck can you NOT know where a huge amount of your money is coming from?
