So, rumor has it that the list has been increased to 250 cosponsors, including Elton Gallegy who was a contact last week. Since the list is at 250, and still nothing official on a hearing, I say we contact the house committee on financial services and Barney Frank, demanding that they schedule a proper hearing asap about 1207. Let Frank know we haven't given up!

CSPAN is not scheduled to televise the hearing
Lets phone and message bomb C-SPAN to cover tomorrows hearings. I'd even suggest that people try to call in tomorrow for Washington Journal and let all the viewers know that hearings will begin at 1:30PM EST. C4L is also not tracking this on their website. We must inform the grassroots to tune into the debate and show our support to push this to the floor for a vote.

Just got off the phone with the house financial services commitee and they told me they were holding a meeting tommorrow about at 130pm when they were going discuss bringing HR 1207 out of committee and un to the floor.
I'll second this comment!

I just sent a second wave of faxes to Frank and the FC. Although they say there is a hearing tomorrow which will include 1207, they need to know that we demand they put a strong emphasis on the bill instead of barely touching on it!

Ya. I'm scared that the hearing tomorrow is just to appease us, to make us shut up for a bit. There still has been no vote scheduled in the committee to push the bill to the floor and this hearing is a very generic hearing on the Fed. Hopefully, since Representative Paul will be there, he can push forth 1207 a lot.

Frank has been releasing an awful lot of emails from Bernanke and the Fed lately, giving it more oversight than it's ever had....

I have a feeling none of it will be watered down with Paul on the job, but Frank should be allowed his input as well.......they can both work from the same page if they just examine the Fed as a whole. Chairman Frank a long time ago used to not give the Fed a free pass.....return him to that confidence again & there's movement.

I called into the Financial Services Committee and told them to have a hearing on HR 1207. I could tell by the lady's tone of voice that she had gotten a lot of calls about it today. She said there was a hearing being held tomorrow at 1:30 on the role of the Federal Reserve. I asked if it was actually on the bill and she said it was the first step in the process for hearings on the bill.

His aide did not like to hear from me. I asked if any bill before the finance committee has more cosponsors and has yet to receive a hearing. He was quick to push me off, miffed, "I don't know, ask the finance committee." I iterated before he transferred that the bill has 245 cosponsors, enough to warrant at least a discussion, with a smarmy laugh.
At the FC Committee I was pushed to an answering machine.

Interesting, the address worked fine for me when sending an email. On the write your rep form, I used the zip code 02458-1275. Once I got past that, I filled out the info such as name and address, and for the address I used "29 Crafts Street Newton, MA". Maybe try again. When the hell is Frank going to give the hearing he promised?!?!
