WITH A FOREWORD BY RON PAUL
Nothing makes traditional left and right kiss and make up faster than when they're faced with an articulate libertarian. Avert your eyes from this dangerous extremist, citizen! Government is composed of wise public servants who innocently pursue the common good!
This past spring, Cecily McMillan rode a bus across a bridge to Rikers Island, home of the notorious New York City jail. When the Occupy Wall Street activist was released nearly two months later, she had left her old self behind.
As Told to Abigail Pesta | Cosmopolitan Magazine
I didn't cry my first night in jail.
By the time I got through the 12 hours of intake — the lines, the fingerprints, the strip search — it was 4 a.m. In a dorm with 50 women, I lay on a cot smaller than a twin bed, with a mattress so thin, I could feel the cold metal beneath my back.
I didn't feel much of anything emotionally, except a vague sense of resolution. At least I knew my fate now. I was a convicted felon.
I had spent two years awaiting a trial, accused of assaulting a policeman at an Occupy Wall Street protest in New York City in March 2012. As I remember it, the officer surprised me from behind, grabbing my right breast so forcefully, he lifted me off the ground. In that moment, my elbow met his face.
At the time, I was a graduate student at The New School for Social Research and volunteering as a union organizer, in fact helping police negotiate contracts. I was studying nonviolent movements and had been inspired by pacifists like Bayard Rustin, the activist who helped Martin Luther King Jr. My arrest was the opposite of everything I stood for.
This is for drivers on Labor Day Weekend.
How about an aggressive lawsuit for every one of these blood draws? The guy on the gurney asks, "What country is this?"
Over at the Gwinnett County Sheriff's website, a video that looks more like Marine recruiting than community policing.

Less than a week after a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas halted the bloody 50-day war in Gaza, Israel announced it is appropriating nearly 1,000 acres of land in the West Bank for Israeli settlers.
Israeli officials declared a 990-acre region as "state land," effectively confiscating it from Palestinians who live nearby and claim ownership.
The land is west of Bethlehem, in an area with several established settlements.
Peace Now, an Israeli group opposed to further settlements, called the move the biggest land grab the country has undertaken in over 30 years.
I hear he has rounded up a gang of cold blooded killers and they are killing anyone who gets in their way. Fortunately, we have a wise old leader in our town called John McFool who has come up with a brilliant plan to keep my family and I safe. Even though I am heavily in debt and on the verge of bankruptcy, he says I should borrow the money to make the long trip to Far Far Away, and I should walk right up to the bully and shoot him in the head. He says that will make me safer. He says the bully will be dead and not one gang member will want to retaliate against me or my family because I shot their leader in the head. He says there is no reason to expect any gang members to follow me back to my town and kill my family with a bomb.
And if the gang elects a new leader after I shoot the current one, John McFool says I will have to borrow more money again next year and make the trip to Far Far Away and shoot the new gang leader in the head. John says there is no chance that any of the gang members will want revenge and follow me back to my town and harm my family.
Arizona Senator John McCain, (who never saw a war he didn't love), is advocating loudly for more U.S. military intervention against ISIS, and warned that they may be the "biggest threat ever" to the United States!
But the fact is - if we simply FOLLOW OUR CONSTITUTION, then no one can ever claim that we are suddenly a Muslim nation (or a Jewish nation, Hindu nation, Christian nation, Ammish nation, Buddhist nation etc etc).
What is wrong with some of my "liberty" brethren?!??!?! Actually, this is not meant for my libertarian friends. This is meant for the purely anti american/anti american government/extremist populists... I am so disgusted by some of you, that I've been wanting to post this for a LONG TIME and after watching Putin's defense for his PURELY TYRANNICAL laws against his own people, I realized, its time to bring the fight on. I'm anticipating a lot of venom, but what's right is right, bring it on!
Just be honest, you tyrant defenders, you are not "libertarians." I am a libertarian and I love my country, but I hate my government. I hate any man who thinks that by force and by money they can control another man. Thats what the US government is, thats what Putin is, thats what Assad is, What Gaddafi was, Saddam Hussein was, thats what Hitler was, thats what Stalin was, etc etc etc. yet these same FOOLS who decry US hegemony and US world dominance, APPLAUD AND DEFEND PUTIN!!!
Putin, really? The man who is lying to the whole world while invading Ukrain (I was NOT a fan of US involvement into Ukraine and believed Crimea has a right to succession, but whats going on now is pure murder and tyranny of violence of one state over another).

DALLAS — Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Mike Pence, Rick Perry and Ben Carson all sounded like presidential candidates in weekend speeches to conservative activists here for a conference organized by an influential Koch-backed group.
The would-be candidates touted their small-government bona fides and hammered prospective Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama on issues ranging from the Middle East to health care to Obama’s golfing.
Roman Empire Slaughtered by Their Own Paid Assassins. Professional protectors Demanded Their Pensions.Submitted by Mark Twain on Sun, 08/31/2014 - 22:06
Securing police pensions... in the time limit set by Rome... 20 years. Using force, or just the threat of force... to secure pensions is common... Enforcers routinely back up their requests with their force.
I know there are many who believe the US/NATO/EU story and the Russians/Putin are attempting to deceive us they aren't involved militarily in the Ukraine crisis. But, if that's the case, and the US/NATO/EU's version of the downed MH17 flight is legitimate, why are they refusing to release the 'black box' recordings? The Russians are making a demand that these finding be realeased to the public.
It's Sunday afternoon, the sun finally came out and its been shining down for hours. The sky's blue and perfectly clear now, but earlier in the day when it was still dark it rained. At noon the humidity and outside temperatures were higher than normal. It was miserably sticky; the kind of weather where your clothes glue to your skin and you can't get cool, no one wants to be outside.
By 3:00 the pools of rain water have dried up and people are starting to come out into their yards and the streets again. I'm on my way home from walking my dogs. The smell of ribs grilling over apple wood drifts through the air to me. I pass a family gathered together for a picnic in the neighborhood park.
Dad's hanging back in the shade of a big Cottonwood tree, working the grill and sneaking sips from a sweating bottle—He's in the midst of taking a long pull of beer—when he sees me passing by. He makes a move to hide the bottle. I've disturbed him, intruded into that sacred space he's found in front of the grill. It's a space filled with wisps of smoke curling up to chase away the twin ghosts of work and worry. The disturbance is brief. Presently a wave of ease settles over his face. Everything about him returns to the way it was before I came by. He seems to be saying "Ahhh fuck it, it's Sunday afternoon and I'm here to enjoy myself" as he raises the bottle to his lips again.

Buying silver is something that a lot of people that read this site do so I figured it was about time for a post full of tips, ideas, and advice on how to store your precious metals.
Silver is a hedge against instability but like any physical hedge it could be stolen by thieves, confiscated in a no-knock-raid, or potentially taken by a bank during a bail-in.
There may not be anywhere that your silver is 100% safe so to minimize risk it is important to try and have multiple locations. Even under the worst case scenario you won't lose all of your stashes. Silver that you plan on saving for a longer period of time can be stored in more isolated places.
