Who's Afraid Of An Open Debate? Must Watch Documentary: The Truth About the Commission on Presidential DebatesSubmitted by Shawker on Thu, 08/23/2012 - 14:52
The Commission on Presidential Debates is a private corporation headed by the former chairmen of the Republican and Democratic parties. The CPD is a duopoly which allows the major party candidates to draft secret agreements about debate arrangements including moderators, debate format and even participants. The result is a travesty riddled with sterile, non-contentious arguments which consistently exclude alternative voices that Americans want to hear.
As an ex-Mainer, I'm DISGUSTED to report to you the following link:
Members of the Republican National Committee voted Thursday to split Maine’s delegation to the national convention into two separate groups, awarding roughly half of the state’s 20 contested delegates to Mitt Romney and half to Ron Paul, a Maine party official said.
Charlie Webster, chairman of the Maine Republican Party, said the RNC Committee on Contests had hoped that Maine’s contingent of 20 Paul delegates would agree to the split.
Webster said the Contests Committee concluded "there were so many mistakes made by the party, by the credentialing committee and by the chairman of the convention ... that it wasn't a legitimate election."
Ben Swann Reality Check: U.S. Marine Held In A Mental Hospital Against His Will Because Of Facebook PostsSubmitted by DJP333 on Thu, 08/23/2012 - 14:00
Ben Swann Reality Check takes a look at the case of U.S. Marine Brandon Raub who is being held in a mental hospital in Virginia over Facebook posts.
Looking around online, it appears the MSM has not yet noticed -- or at least reported -- that Ron has sold out the 10,411-capacity USF Sun Dome for Sunday. The baseball stadium next door is being prepared for overflow.
You may wish to pass along this news to Drudge as I did.
Buzz Feed - TAMPA, Florida — The Republican National Committee's Rules Committee voted to require written certification that a presidential candidate has a plurality of delegates from five states in order to get a space on the convention ballot — a move intended to provide a warning in the event of floor movement toward an insurgent candidate.
Tennessee committeeman John Ryder push the rules change to eliminate "distractions" on the convention floor, in an effort to "try to create a more streamlined convention procedure, that better reflects the realities," he said.
"The focus is to get away from some of the residue of the 19th century," he added.

"There is no position on which people are so immovable as their religious beliefs. There is no more powerful ally one can claim in a debate than Jesus Christ, or God, or Allah, or whatever one calls this supreme being. But like any powerful weapon, the use of God's name on one's behalf should be used sparingly. The religious factions that are growing throughout our land are not using their religious clout with wisdom. They are trying to force government leaders into following their position 100 percent. If you disagree with these religious groups on a particular moral issue, they complain, they threaten you with the loss of money or votes or both.
I'm frankly sick and tired of the political preachers across this country telling me as a citizen that if I want to be a moral person, I must believe in A, B, C, and D. Just who do they think they are? And from where do they presume to claim the right to dictate their moral beliefs to me? And I am even more angry as a legislator who must endure the threats of every religious group who thinks it has some God-granted right to control my vote on every roll call in the Senate.
I am warning them today: I will fight them every step of the way if they try to dictate their moral convictions to all Americans in the name of conservatism."

This is from mainstream media, so take that for what it's worth and PLEASE be careful.
ABC News: - TAMPA - A big factor during the RNC is the potential for a large number of arrests. In anticipation, in an unprecedented move, Hillsborough County jail officials announced one facility is completely cleared and essentially reconstructed just for the Republican National Convention.
The man in charge, Colonel Jim Previtera, took charge as he walked us through the Orient Road Jail. The colonel began in the carport, where, he said, "The inmates will be unloaded, they will be searched and walked through a metal detector which has been added for this event."
The entire facility has been transformed. At around noon Wednesday, the last of the inmates, excluding a dozen or so trustees prepared to handle cooking and cleaning duties, were moved out to nearby Falkenburg Road Jail. Anyone arrested during the RNC will be brought to Orient Road Jail.
I've been in Tampa since Sunday, & served on the Platform Cmte, which adjourned yesterday. Today, for hours, I worked on my article for Freedomoutpost about the platform. Then, I checked my email to see what was happening & my husband sent me this. We ARE going to have a brokered convention! I'll keep you posted, BUT, while we're in the Sundome & Whiskey Joes, with Ron, the cards will be collapsing while the delegates run from Romney. "They" will count on us not being organized, but we will!
Palin's in our mailbox 2x! Once w/a DVD -- that has info here:
...I haven't looked at this yet - but essentially says "a weak and distrusted Romney cannot win..." They're citing Rule 38 - and asking to nominate Palin on the first ballot.
Another letter from some God-fearing group in the mail as well, supporting Palin...
The GOOD part of this is, that there is an increased awareness of the possibility that Delegates can vote their conscience/be unbound.

MarketWatch: Top officials of the Federal Reserve are leaning strongly toward a third round of bond buying by the Fed, known colloquially as QE3, according to the minutes of the Aug. 1 meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee.
Here’s the money quote from the FOMC minutes: “Many members judged that additional monetary accommodation would likely be warranted fairly soon unless incoming information pointed to a substantial and sustainable strengthening in the pace of the economic recovery.”
The games have started already. John Ryder, committeeman from Tennessee, tried to change the threshold to nominate Paul from 5 states to 10.
Morton Blackwell, committeeman from Virginia opposed the change and "Ryder agreed to change the number back to five states, but the amendment passed with one change intact: DELEGATES MUST INDICATE IN WRITING AT LEAST ONE HOUR BEFORE THE VOTE WHO THEY INTEND TO NOMINATE"
Anyone who wants to vote for Paul should prepare their votes NOW!
Senator Tom Davis heading to Tampa in Support of Ron Paul
By Christopher Cousins | Bangor Daily News
Maine is the last state whose delegates to the Republican National Convention next week are still unsure whether they’ll be seated in support of conservative Texas Rep. Ron Paul.
At issue are 20 of Maine’s 24 delegates to the national GOP convention, which kicks off Sunday in Tampa, Fla.
GOP officials and the Mitt Romney campaign forged a deal that would allow some of Paul’s delegates from Louisiana and Massachusetts to be seated. NPR reported that pro-Paul delegations from Iowa, Nevada and Minnesota have already been credentialed for the convention, and that a deal has been struck for some of Paul’s delegates from Louisiana and Massachusetts to be seated, but not all of them.
From his Facebook page:
"Info on the RNC delegate situation is still trickling in. I was told today by one of the "Massachusetts 17" that 5 of them have been re-instated. I have also been told that Maine delegates said "No deal" to giving up 7 of their slots. Meanwhile, a conservative talk radio host in Maine is reporting that 42 people have been contacted by the RNC, some of them not even nominated at the convention, and told to get ready to go to Tampa.
MORE TO COME...."

Message from Stewart Rhodes, Founder of Oath Keepers
Oath Keepers is coming to the aid of this young Marine veteran and our rallying cry will be "CHARGE HIM, OR RELEASE HIM." We cannot allow "mental illness" designations to be used as a weapon against political dissidents in America. See the below article by Brandon Smith for the disturbing facts regarding the use of mental health detention against Virginia Marine veteran Brandon Raub because of his constitutionally protected free speech on his Facebook page.
As Brandon Smith illustrates, this is exactly what the Soviet Union did to dissidents who dared to criticize the communist regime - they were labeled "insane" and carted off to mental wards. Now it has begun here in America.
