Chicago Public Schools Prom Slogan: ‘This Is Are Story’

Chicago Public Schools Prom Slogan: ‘This Is Are Story’

It’s hard to deny just how poorly Chicago’s public schools are performing when it hits you in the face. Such is the case with Paul Robeson High School’s 2014 prom theme: “This is Are Story.”

That image came from veteran investigative reporter Chuck Goudie, who posted this image on his Facebook page.

Some people might enjoy mocking the irony of the gross misuse of vocabulary.

But unless the organizers of the prom festivities planned the wording this way as a joke, there’s nothing funny about the situation.

Neocon Ted Cruz: Israel Strike Against Iran ‘Could Happen In A Matter Of Months’

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz told a small gathering of pro-Israel American leaders Tuesday that an Israeli strike against Iranian nuclear facilities “could happen in a matter of months.”

“In my view, [Iranian Supreme Leader Ali] Khamenei believes there is no credible deterrence from the United States, there’s not realistic risk of significant consequence for moving forward with their nuclear development,” the Republican told the Spring National Leadership Meeting of the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA) at the Willard Hotel. “That means, that if they keep going forward, I think if it comes down to it, I have real confidence that the nation of Israel will act to preserve her national security, even if this administration will not act first. And that could happen sooner rather than later — that could happen in a matter of months.”

The Four Agreements and the Daily Paul

The Four Agreements is a sweet little book. Compact wisdom that is applicable to the Daily Paul.

1. Be Impeccable with Your Word

Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Don't Take Anything Personally

1,500 newspapers; 1,100 magazines; 9,000 radio & 1,500 TV stations; 2,400 publishers: All owned by just SIX corporations

Back in 1983, approximately 50 corporations controlled the vast majority of all news media in the United States. Today, ownership of the news media has been concentrated in the hands of just six incredibly powerful media corporations. These corporate behemoths control most of what we watch, hear and read every single day. They own television networks, cable channels, movie studios, newspapers, magazines, publishing houses, music labels and even many of our favorite websites.

Crony Corporatism: FDA Out To Destroy America's Artisan Cheese Industry, Benefiting Corporations Like Kraft

by Greg McNeal | Forbes

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an executive decree banning the centuries old practice of aging cheese on wooden boards. One bureaucrat within the FDA, without surveying all of the scientific literature, and without public commentary, has rattled hundreds of small businesses across the United States. Consumers who eat any kind of aged cheese should prepare for a potentially catastrophic disruption in the market for artisan, non-processed cheese.

The FDA’s decision will not only harm American cheese makers, but may also bring a halt to the importation of artisan cheeses from abroad as Canadian and European Union regulators have not imposed such draconian measures and still allow for the use of wood boards to age cheese. Rob Ralyea of Cornell University’s Department of Food Science, commenting on the FDA’s action noted “the great majority of cheeses imported to this country are in fact aged on wooden boards and some are required to be aged on wood by their standard of identity (Comte, Beaufort and Reblochon, to name a few). Therefore, it will be interesting to see how these specific cheeses will be dealt with when it comes to importation into the United States.”

Rand Paul to Discuss ‘Need for Immigration Reform’ w/ Grover Norquist

WSJ: Sen. Rand Paul (R., Ky.) voted against the Senate’s comprehensive immigration reform bill last year, but on Wednesday he plans to “discuss the need for immigration reform.”

Mr. Paul will join former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Partnership for a New American Economy’s monthly series on immigration reform hosted by Grover Norquist.

Mr. Paul, who is openly considering mounting a 2016 presidential campaign, opposed the Senate bill and the prospect of “amnesty.” Mr. Bloomberg is, of course, one of the leading proponents of immigration reform, which the Partnership for a New American Economy aims to promote.

Lindsey Graham Avoids Runoff, beats tea party candidates

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham won his Republican primary on Tuesday, cruising past the 50-percent threshold to avoid a runoff against his tea party-inspired challengers.
The 58-year-old senator faced six Republican challengers in the Palmetto State, but none of those opponents got much traction or raised enough money to become viable.

America's Night of the Living Dead Moment Has Arrived

Ever get the feeling that you're being surrounded by human zombies?

I have always brushed that feeling off, as if to say, "Nah, never gonna' happen here, most people are good at heart."

I can't help but notice that something really isn't right in America tonight. I've always been the optimist, but after what has transpired in the last few days on a national and personal level, I can't dismiss the obvious trend that seems to be singing to me like the bird in my backyard on repeat, chirping the same message over and over again.

Zombie culture is cool now. Parents proudly display, "Zomby Family," decals on their vehicles. Dressing up like the Joker and his mistress is the in thing, take a selfie, murder some people, and have a Big Mac. Why not?

The, "law," no longer applies as the president has shown.
