The time the United States blew up a passenger plane—and tried to cover it up.

Fury and frustration still mount over the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, and justly so. But before accusing Russian President Vladimir Putin of war crimes or dismissing the entire episode as a tragic fluke, it’s worth looking back at another doomed passenger plane—Iran Air Flight 655—shot down on July 3, 1988, not by some scruffy rebel on contested soil but by a U.S. Navy captain in command of an Aegis-class cruiser called the Vincennes.

30 Fascinating Photos Of 1960s Afghanistan

The peaceful hues of 1960s Afghanistan paint a far different picture of the country embroiled with corruption and struggle. In 1967, Arizona State University professor Dr. Bill Podlich and his family swapped the stark, sultry summers of Tempe, Arizona for the environs of Kabul, Afghanistan. After serving in World War II, Podlich wanted to partake in a cause for peace and for that reason, he teamed up with UNESCO to work for two years at the Higher Teachers College of Kabul, Afghanistan. With him were his children, Jan and Peg, along with his wife Margaret.

Huffpo: I Went 21 Days Without Complaining and It Changed My Life

7-22-14 by Tim Ferris

"This $@#&ing Mac will be the death of me. Intuitive, my ass."

It just slipped out, and I don't think I can be blamed. I was ready to leave the PC behind and take my Mac overseas for the first time when I couldn't figure out how to resize photos. On a friggin' Mac? I felt swindled. I also now had to move the bracelet.

The Last Word on Rand

OK I will vote for him in the primaries and even the general if he makes it that far.
However I do not have that 08 - 12 spirit that I had with his father.
Dr Ron Paul to me is more then a man or a movement.
He is the idea of the true republic.
He is 1775
He is that time before the flint struck the powder at Lexington green
He is that street protest
He is the RevolUTION and we will not see another like him in this lifetime.

You Rand people need to understand that about us Ron People
He is not his father ...

I will give Rand my support but I can't forget 2008 and 2012

A Portuguese Domino Falls

Last week we wrote about trouble brewing in the Portuguese banking sector.

The media advised to "stay calm" and the bank itself reassured its customers that the problem was with the holding company, NOT the bank itself

Then today we get this news: Espirito Santo Financial Group is Seeking Creditor Protection

Lesson: Trust your instincts. When they tell you everything is fine and it doesn't seem right to you, don't go back to your seat.

I Speak with Chris Rossini on His New Book on the Federal Reserve, "Set Money Free!"

In this week's episode of the Lions of Liberty Podcast, which I imagine will be somewhat less controversial here than last week's show, I welcome Lions of Liberty’s own Chris Rossini back to the show to discuss his new book “Set Money Free!”. Chris explains why he decided to take his writing to the next level, and write a book about the Federal Reserve. Marc and Chris discuss why the Federal Reserve is so harmful to economic growth and individual liberty, and Chris describes his vision of how a free market monetary system could emerge and thrive in lieu of the centralized bank. As always, I share my thoughts in the post-show wrap up!
