Posse Comitatus, Essentially GONE
Submitted by drmikevasovski on Sat, 04/27/2013 - 07:40A lengthy but well referenced article on the militarization of the police. Made me understand that Posse Comitatus has been weakened to the point that it's immaterial.

Silver Circle Premieres in Chicago this Sunday!
Submitted by MegD4Freedom on Fri, 04/26/2013 - 19:55The first Midwest screening of Silver Circle will be hosted on the Northside of Chicago at Chicago Filmmakers on April 28th with TWO showtimes (5pm & 7pm)
About Silver Circle:
It's 2019. The dollar is dead. The Federal Reserve brutally clings to the power it has gathered for more than a hundred years. Zoe Taylor stands in their way, with a cunning plan, a scrappy group of Rebels, an insider's help, and a competing currency made of pure silver. Do she and the Rebels have what it takes to destroy the tyrannical Fed?
This event is directly following the C2E2 event happening at the McCormick Center all weekend. THE premiere comic book convention of Chicago!
Tickets are $10 and are ON SALE NOW!
Updated: I need help with ideas/plans for a chicken coop please.
Submitted by Jefferson on Fri, 04/26/2013 - 14:56After being treated to a wonderful meal at "Nui" and "C's" home a few weekends ago, I was given a dozen of their fresh eggs to take home, which led to the inspiration to get 11 tiny baby chicks. Right now they are in a portable cage that is starting to get cozy. I can look at pictures on Google images of different coops, but I thought I would defer to the DP since posing questions here usually yields some great ideas..
George Will profiles Justin Amash as "One to Watch"
Submitted by laurelai on Fri, 04/26/2013 - 14:52Washington Post: America’s most interesting development since November is the Republican Party becoming more interesting. Consider the congressman from Grand Rapids, Mich., who occupies the seat once held by Gerald Ford, embodiment of vanilla Republicanism. Justin Amash, 33, may seek the Senate seat being vacated by six-term Democrat Carl Levin, who was elected in 1978, two years before Amash was born.
Michigan supported Barack Obama over native son Mitt Romney by 9.5 points and has elected just one Republican senator since 1966. The governor, however, and nearly all other statewide officers are Republicans, the GOP controls both legislative chambers, and Amash, son of a Palestinian father and a Syrian mother, would benefit from Michigan having the nation’s second-largest Arab American population (almost 200,000).
He absorbed a libertarian understanding of opportunity from the example of his father, who began his very successful business career by buying stuff from small wholesalers and selling it door-to-door. Amash graduated magna cum laude with an economics degree from the University of Michigan, then earned a law degree there. “Some of my views,” he says mildly, “were a little bit different from my Republican peers.” He began reading Friedrich Hayek and other representatives of the Austrian school of economics, and less than four years after he left Ann Arbor, he was in Michigan’s Legislature, where in his one term he cast the only “no” vote on more than 70 bills.

Submitted by fonzdrew on Fri, 04/26/2013 - 12:57Gold And Silver Dead Cat Bounce And More Carnage To Come Or All In?
Submitted by Doug Eberhardt on Fri, 04/26/2013 - 12:10Last week we saw some real carnage in the gold and silver markets. In two days, April 12 and April 15, we saw the price of gold fall over $200 and many in the financial media came out of the woodwork saying the gold bull was over. Since that time we have had a move off the low of $1,322 reached April 15th to the current price of just over $1,470, a nice $140+ pop back up in price. Silver yesterday was up more than $1.30 at $24.24 This leaves investors wanting to know, have we hit bottom in gold and silver and will this be the 13th year straight of higher gold prices or will we continue the pattern of lower lows?
In September of 2011, the dollar hit a low of 74.14 as seen in the following chart. Below that you will see the chart as to where the dollar is today, April 26, 2013, currently sitting at just below 83 on the index.
Roundup - Monsanto; Weed, Grass and Human Killer (Linked To Parkinson's, Cancer And Other Health Issues)
Submitted by Doug Eberhardt on Fri, 04/26/2013 - 08:41April 25 (Reuters) - Heavy use of the world's most popular herbicide, Roundup, could be linked to a range of health problems and diseases, including Parkinson's, infertility and cancers, according to a new study.
The peer-reviewed report, published last week in the scientific journal Entropy, said evidence indicates that residues of "glyphosate," the chief ingredient in Roundup weed killer, which is sprayed over millions of acres of crops, has been found in food.
Taibbi/Rolling Stone | Everything is Rigged: The Biggest Price-Fixing Scandal Ever
Submitted by Independent_Thought on Fri, 04/26/2013 - 00:29By Matt Taibbi | Rolling Stone | April 25, 2013
"Conspiracy theorists of the world, believers in the hidden hands of the Rothschilds and the Masons and the Illuminati, we skeptics owe you an apology. You were right. The players may be a little different, but your basic premise is correct: The world is a rigged game. We found this out in recent months, when a series of related corruption stories spilled out of the financial sector, suggesting the world's largest banks may be fixing the prices of, well, just about everything."
