Part II: Introducing Daily Paul SubscriptionsSubmitted by Michael Nystrom on Tue, 07/12/2011 - 08:17
Now continues Part II of I got rid of the Bachmann ads (Part I)
(Part III: The Benefits of Going Pro on the DP)
Daily Paul Subscriptions are a voluntary way for DP members to support the Daily Paul Community. Funds will go towards offsetting ongoing site maintenance expenses and funding future improvements, features and growth.
There are two subscription levels:
- Basic: For $5 per month (just 17 cents per day!), you will get an ad-free Daily Paul when logged in to your account.
- Premium: For $10 (just 33 cents per day!) or above, never see ads, and gain access to premium features while logged in to your account.
If you value the Daily Paul Community and would like to see it continue and grow, please
More information below:
You mean the Daily Paul is a pay site now?
No. This is a voluntary subscription model for those who wish to support the site. The site will otherwise remain as is.
Why Paid Subscriptions?
As is, the Daily Paul exists on a fragile, precarious balance, one that is primarily subsidized by volunteer labor. In the long run, this is an unsustainable model. Your subscription contributions will 1) shore up the precarious financial position of the Daily Paul 2) Allow me to properly compensate for the mission critical functions that make the site possible, and 3) prepare for future improvements and expansion of the Daily Paul.
Basic Subscriptions ($5 per month) give you the satisfaction of knowing that you're contributing to the ongoing sustainability of the Daily Paul website and community. Advertisements disappear when you log into the site, giving you an ad-free Daily Paul browsing experience.
Premium Level subscribers ($10 / month and up) receive:
- Ad-free browsing
- Access to Premium-members-only features, including blocking undesired users from your browsing experience, and more features to be announced. [Note: This does not mean you're blocking these users from the site itself. It means that you can select certain users and not have to see their posts and or comments when you are logged in to the site]
- More premium features to be announced.
- The satisfaction of knowing you’re helping to support the Daily Paul.
Some ads are useful. What if I want to see the ads?
When you're not logged in, you'll see the site as any standard user would, which means you'll see all the ads.
So you’re not getting rid of the ads?
No. Only for paid subscribers - they don't have to see them.
Are subscriptions tax-deductible?
I don't have much money to spend on subscriptions.
Five dollars a month is just 17 cents per day; $10 is just 33 cents per day. It is less than a cup of coffee, or just about anything else you consume on a daily basis. If you feel you get more than that amount in value each day from being a member of the Daily Paul, please consider subscribing to ensure our ongoing viability.
Of course if you’re hurting in this terrible economy, as many of us are, please do not feel obligated to subscribe. If you're doing well, please consider a contribution above $10 per month.
How is payment handled?
Payment is handled through PayPal, which accepts all major credit cards. You will be billed monthly, and can cancel at any time. If you would like to pay for a year in advance by check, please send your check to:
The Daily Paul
PO Box 1306
Arlington, MA 02476
Be sure to include your username!
I am (still) working on getting the merchant account setup, and will let you know when that (finally) happens.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my subscription?
Yes, at any time. Go to your account membership tab, and click on "Change Membership." Your new payment will automatically be calculated and billed.
If you encounter any problems, use the contact form to let us know. (Choose the "Subscriptions" category.)
What if I want to cancel my subscription?
Go to your Daily Paul account page where you will find a membership tab. You can adjust or cancel your subscription at any time. If you choose to cancel, please be so kind as to share your experience with us as to why. I want and value your feedback!
I live overseas, can I subscribe?
